Police in St. John's arrested an impaired driver overnight courtesy of information from a concerned citizen who kept the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary abreast of the driver's progress.
The RNC fielded a call Tuesday night that someone was speeding and driving erratically on the Outer Ring Road, near Team Gushue Highway.
Police said the caller stayed on the line and gave progress reports as the driver headed into the centre of St. John's.
The RNC eventually caught up with the driver near The Rooms, in the area of Bonaventure Avenue and Merrymeeting Road.
The driver, 43, was brought to the lockup on charges that include impaired driving and driving while prohibited. He was held in custody for an expected appearance in provincial court on Wednesday.
