Three drivers who were pulled over in police traffic stops found themselves in trouble with the law for another reason this weekend.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in Corner Brook said a man was arrested Sunday night for trafficking in marijuana after his car was stopped at a checkpoint on O'Connell Drive.

"A quantity of drugs, cash and other drug paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle," the RNC said in a statement.

Later Sunday night, Corner Brook police checked a car in the Mayfair Avenue area. A woman, 25, was charged after police found a small amount of marijuana in her car.

Meanwhile, RCMP in Bonavista reported that a traffic stop on Sunday morning turned up 4.5 ounces of marijuana in a car. A man, 20, will appear in court in July on a trafficking charge.
