A man who shouldn't have been behind the wheel was arrested in St. John's Tuesday morning, courtesy of a call from a concerned citizen.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary received a call after a vehicle collided with a utility pole on LeMarchant Road around 2 a.m.

After police arrived on the scene, they arrested a 26-year-old suspect.

The driver was charged with being impaired by both drugs and alcohol.

He was later released from custody, and will appear in provincial court at a later date.
