The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a driver fled on foot after hitting two parked vehicles early Saturday morning in St. John's.

Officers responded to an accident on Newfoundland Drive, west of Torbay Road, around 3:45 a.m.

According to police, a westbound vehicle struck two vehicles that were parked on the south side of Newfoundland Drive.

The RNC said the driver then fled the scene on foot.

Two of the vehicles received extensive damage.

Police said it is believed the driver may have been injured in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
