A woman has been banned from driving for life, as part of a sentence for two impaired driving offences.
Diane Bell, 63, from St. John's, was sentenced Thursday in provincial court.
Bell was caught driving impaired twice in the same day in 2012.
In both cases, employees at a Newfoundland Liquor Corporation store called police after Bell drove away from their location while impaired.
Bell had been refused service both times because staff realized she had been drinking.
On top of being banned from driving, Bell was also given five months house arrest and 12 months probation.
Crown prosecutor Jennifer Colford said she would have asked for jail time for Bell, but decided house arrest was sufficient, because Bell has serious health issues.
