We're opening our St. John's studios to the public on Saturday, for an afternoon of discovery, conversation and fun.
CBC is preparing for Saturday's event, reports Jamie Mauracher 2:30

We here at CBC in St. John's will be flinging our doors — and studios — open on Saturday for our first open house in a couple of years. We sure hope you'll be able to come.

Need to know

Where: 95 University Ave.

When: Noon to 4 p.m.

Admission: Free, but bring non-perishable items for the food bank

Take a peek inside our production centre on 95 University Ave., right by Prince Philip Drive. Meet familiar faces and voices, have a snack and enjoy a family-friendly afternoon.

Doors open at 12 noon, and we'll be here until 4 p.m. There's no charge, but we would like you to bring a non-perishable food item for the Community Food-Sharing Association.

During the tour, you can try your luck with weather forecasting at the green screen that CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon uses. See our sets for Here & Now, Late Night and On Point, get an inside look at our control room, and have a chat with Jonathan Crowe, Debbie Cooper and the rest of the television crew.

The crew at will be revealing the secrets of their online magic, including a special open house live feed using the hashtag #cbcnlopenhouse.

Anthony Germain, the crew from the St. John's Morning Show and On the Go's Ted Blades will also be on hand.

As well, Republic of Doyle stars Krystin Pellerin and Sean McGinley will on the scene to meet fans. (Bring an autograph book!)

Parents will want to take their children along to meet some favourite characters from Kids CBC, including Fresco Del Gecko, Daniel Tiger, Peter Puck, Huckle and Super Why.

We’ll have a barbecue station running, serving hot dogs and drinks. All proceeds are going to the Community Food Sharing Association.
