Disturbances in Nain lead to serious assault charges

RCMP in Nain were busy on Friday, dealing with two separate domestic disturbances in the community.

RCMP in Nain were busy on Friday dealing with two separate domestic disturbances in the community.

Two men were taken into custody and face a number of serious charges.

The first incident was reported to police around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, regarding a disturbance at a residence. 

Once officers arrived, a 44-year-old man was arrested for assaulting his spouse.

He is facing charges of forcible confinement and breaching a court order. 

In the second incident, RCMP received a complaint around noon of a disturbance at a home, in which a man was reportedly in possession of a weapon. 

The 36-year-old man was arrested for assault, uttering threats, possession of a weapon, and breaching court orders. 

Both men were held in custody pending court appearances.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
