Newfoundland and Labrador's minister for intergovernmental affairs, will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming October 2011 provincial general election.

Dave Denine was elected as MHA for Mount Pearl South in 2003 after spending 14 years in municipal politics in Mount Pearl, including a stint as mayor of the city.

Denine held a number of positions in the provincial government, including minister of municipal affairs and minister responsible for the volunteer and non profit sector.

Within minutes of Denine's announcement on Tuesday morning, Mount Pearl city councillor Paula Tessier announced she will be seeking the Progressive Conservative nomination for Mount Pearl South.
