Man, 25, dies after car collides with transport truck near Clarenville
Car travelling east crossed into westbound lane; passenger pronounced dead at hospital
A 25-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Clarenville Tuesday night.
Around 11:30 p.m., a car travelling east crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a transport truck, RCMP say.
Accident was fatal
The man who died was a passenger in the car. He was seriously injured and pronounced dead at hospital.
The 31-year-old male driver was also brought to hospital with injuries that police say are not life-threatening.
The driver of the transport truck, 59, was also taken to hospital where he was treated and released.
A helicopter was dispatched to the scene to assist with transporting people to hospital.
Motorists should expect delays
Clarenville RCMP said Wednesday afternoon the Trans-Canada Highway will be closed approximately two kilometres west of Clarenville as they remove the tractor trailer form the site.
