When word went out Wednesday afternoon that donations were being collected for a chance to dunk David Cochrane at a charity tank at the Royal St. John's Regatta, the response was swift.

Cochrane was one of the volunteers who agreed to be dunked at a fundraising attraction managed by Young Adult Cancer Canada.

Potential donors — including colleagues and no doubt politicians who might want to settle a score with CBC's provincial affairs reporter — chipped in $1,920, with the charity pulling in an estimated $5,500, Cochrane said.

Here's a video of Cochrane taking the plunge.

St. John's Morning Show host Anthony Germain also took multiple plunges in the tank, including this shot from his own son.
