One Newfoundland couple didn't let the weekend's province-wide blackout stop their 'big day.'
Samantha and Nick Collett tied the knot by candlelight on Saturday.
"You could actually see your breath as we were speaking, and everybody was shivering," said Samantha Collett to St. John's Morning Show host Anthony Germain Monday.
The couple had originally invited 160 guests, but only 30 could attend.
The blackout meant the newlyweds had to think of creative ways to get things done before the ceremony.
"My complication was getting a shower," said Nick Collett.
With no power or water, the groom was forced to bathe in two and half inches of melted snow before making his way down the aisle.
Collett said the idea of postponing the wedding never entered his mind.
"[It was] now or never," he said.
The couple were married in Chance Cove and live in St. John's.
