For the first time in three decades, the Canadian Junior Curling Championships are coming to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Provincial champions from across the country will be in Corner Brook from Jan. 24 to Feb. 1 of 2015.

Draws will take place at both the Corner Brook Curling Club and Pepsi Centre, with playoffs set for the Pepsi Centre.

Gary Oke, co-chair of the organizing committee, said with 28 rinks competing, spectators are bound to see some future starts in action

"Hopefully, the kids coming out of here in five years after the event will say, 'Well, God, he was in Corner Brook and played a national junior there, and now he's the Olympic gold medalist,' or something like that ... so it's great from that point of view," he said.

About 200 volunteers will be needed for the event, but Oke said he doesn't believe recruitment will be a problem.
