A Corner Brook teenager has been charged with assault with weapon after brandishing a machete Tuesday.
The RNC says the 16-year-old boy and a younger teen were at a store in the Murphy Square area.
An employee thought they were acting suspiciously and approached them, at which point the older boy pulled out a machete and threatened the man.
The boys ran from the store but were picked up by officers with the help of a police dog.
The older teen is still in custody and will be in court again Wednesday, while the younger boy was released without charges.
In addition to the assault charge, the boy faces counts of carrying a concealed weapon and breaching court orders.
