A military aircraft landed at a St. John's hospital Saturday afternoon, after performing a patient transfer from the Burin Peninsula.

A cormorant helicopter from 9 Wing Gander, operated by Canadian Armed Forces Search and Rescue, had transported the patient from the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre to the Health Sciences Centre.

Sgt. Tyrone Grande of the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax told CBC that Eastern Health made the request at 10 a.m. Saturday, because their fixed-wing aircraft could not manage the flight due to adverse weather conditions at the time.
