Constabulary officer punched in face
A police officer in Corner Brook took a punch to the face Monday evening in a dispute that required pepper spray to subdue a suspect.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a complaint of a man assaulting a woman at a home on Atlantic Avenue, on the city's west side.
Police said the suspect, 36, struck an officer, although it described his injuries as minor.
The RNC used pepper spray to bring the man under control, and then into custody on pending charges of assault as well as assaulting a peace officer.
The suspect was being held for a psychiatric evaluation.
