The Newfoundland and Labrador government is closing in on its most recent estimate for work on the exterior of Confederation Building.
A 2009 news release put the cost in the vicinity of $20 million, but in late 2012, that was revised to about $50 million.
In response to a recent CBC request, the province said to date, more than $37 million has been spent on the renovations.
The work is expected to be finished by 2014, although that is just the outside of the building.
Almost $300,000 has been spent so far on work inside the older East Block. That's what it cost to move the premier's office to the 4th floor while mechanical and electrical upgrades are completed on the 8th floor.
The price tag includes expenses for the move, construction and furniture, as well as salaries for the employees doing that work.
