Director of Public Prosecutions, Donovan Molloy has made an official complaint against Judge John Joy in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

CBC News has learned that the Director of Public Prosecutions has made an official complaint against Judge John Joy in Labrador.

Donovan Molloy said the complaint concerns comments made by Joy in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Molloy said while he cannot get into the nature of the comments, he has gone to the Complaints Review Committee that oversees judges.

He has confirmed that in court on Wednesday, the Crown made an application for Joy to remove himself from the bench for any cases involving provincial Crown prosecutors.

In court, Joy said he has no intention of doing that, and in the interim, he will continue hearing cases with provincial Crown lawyers.
