A prohibited driver who should not have been behind the wheel of anything was caught red-handed in an unusual vehicle: a backhoe.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the backhoe collided with a parked vehicle in the area of Howley Avenue Extension in central St. John's around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
No one was injured in the crash, although the parked vehicle was extensively damaged.
The RNC said the driver in the backhoe did not have a valid driver's licence. He was arrested on a charge of driving while prohibited.
