Five people were airlifted to safety near Happy Valley-Goose Bay Friday night.
The group called for assistance around 7 p.m., after their boat started taking on water on the Kenamu River, near the mouth of Lake Melville.
They were able to reach a sandbar, but high winds and strong waves prevented other boats from reaching them.
A Canadian Forces Griffon helicopter was called in, and rescuers were able to hoist each person to safety.
The five were flown to the Labrador Health Centre in Goose Bay as a precautionary measure, but officials said all were examined and released.
