Canada Post worker charged with abandoning mail appears in court
An employee of Canada Post has been charged with abandoning and redirecting mail in the St. John's area.
Eldon Emberley, 37, of Conception Bay South made a brief appearance in provincial court on Thursday morning.
He is also charged with violating the Environmental Protection Act.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary did not name Emberley specifically, but they have said a postal worker was caught on surveillance video in March.
The worker was seen tossing advertising flyers out of a Canada Post van.
Last week, the RNC charged five people under the Environmental Protection Act, including Emberley.
The charges followed an operation to catch people illegally dumping garbage in the St. John's area.
Emberley will return to court on June 19.
