Thousands of people in Newfoundland and Labrador got a personal message this past weekend from police about impaired driving.

The RCMP and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary set up roadside checks all over the province. Even with plenty of advance warning, police nabbed several drivers who shouldn't have been on the road.

"Surprisingly, the ones that we advertise, there's still people that don't listen to the news or don't realize that they're impaired, " said RCMP Sgt. Wayne Newell.

Here's what happened during the RCMP check on Saturday, which was part of a national campaign.
