Busy Sunday for police dealing with impaired drivers
Several people stopped an alleged drunk driver from leaving a store Sunday, in one of several incidents where the public was able to help the police.
The incident happened on Park Avenue in Mount Pearl just before noon.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the concerned citizens blocked a car from leaving the store because they thought the female driver was impaired.
RNC officers arrived and the woman, 48, ended up blowing three times the legal limit.
Meanwhile, a man, 26, was charged with impaired driving after an accident on Prince Phillip Drive in St. John's. Just after 6 a.m. Sunday a witness saw a car hit a pole and the driver run away.
RNC officers were able to track him down.
A man, 58, blew three times the legal limit after he was pulled over on Old Pine Line in Torbay yesterday. Police say they got a tip from the public around one in the afternoon
