Building collapse sends man to hospital
One man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the wooden frame of a building under construction collapsed in Conception Bay North.
The wreck happened on private land off Roaches Line around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The 62-year-old man was one of five people working on the partially constructed storage building.
Harbour Grace RCMP said he became trapped after the collapse.
A source told CBC News that the frame of the large storage shed was no match for strong winds in the area. However, police said the winds were moderate at the time.
A dump truck was also buried under the wooden rubble.
The RCMP and occupational health and safety officials are jointly investigating the accident.
