It was an eventful Friday night for the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in the St. John's area.

Patrol officers had to deal with several alcohol-related incidents — one involving a man serving weekend time at Her Majesty's Penitentiary.

Police say he showed up Friday night on time, but drunk.

As a result, the 37-year-old now faces an additional three charges of breaching court orders.

A few hours later, officers stopped a vehicle on Mount Scio Road and arrested the 26-year-old driver who had no licence or insurance. He also had false licence plates and owed $5,000 in fines.

The man was held for a court appearance and the vehicle was seized.

Then there's the woman who was arrested on Duckworth Street around 2 a.m. for driving on the wrong side of the road.

The 47-year-old was pulled over and charged with impaired driving and refusing the breathalyzer.

She was also given a seven-day driving suspension and released to appear in court at a later date.
