Body recovered from Middle Cove

Police have recovered the body of a woman who was reported missing from the Middle Cove area on Friday morning.

Searchers recovered the body of a 52-year-old woman in waters off Middle Cove beach Friday morning.

The extensive search started around 8:30 a.m. after the coast guard received reports of a woman in the water.

Search and rescue technicians were aided by local boats and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary's marine and K-9 units which combed the area until the body was found shortly before 11 a.m.

The woman's car was also reportedly found in the Middle Cove beach parking lot.

Police say no foul play is suspected in the death.
