Blood services urging public to donate over holidays

Canadian Blood Services is reminding the public that donating blood is still needed over the holidays.

Collecting blood during this season is a challenge - many donors leave town or are otherwise busy.

However, many patients will spend their holidays receiving cancer treatment or undergoing life-saving surgery and emergency care.

A number of clinics will be available in St. John's over the Christmas season at the blood donor facility at 7 Wicklow Street.

Below is a list of the holiday hours of operation.

Mon. Dec. 24: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Breakfast with Santa)

Tues. Dec. 25 & Wed. Dec. 26: Closed

Thurs. Dec. 27: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Fri. Dec. 28: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Mon. Dec. 31: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Tues. Jan. 1: Closed
