Black Tickle fish plant closing

A crab processing plant in Black Tickle, Labrador, is closing leaving up to 60 people out of work.

A crab processing plant in the Labrador community of Black Tickle is closing, leaving up to 60 people out of work.

Mayor Wendy Quinlan says the plant's owners, Quinlan Brothers, notified the community of the news via fax on Tuesday.

She says it’s devastating news for an isolated community that has no other major employer.

The provincial fisheries department said it will provide support to the affected workers as it does for workers at other plants that close.
