Corner Brook businessman Bill Barry sat down with On Point host David Cochrane this week to discuss his bid to become leader of the province's PC Party.

Barry, who refers to himself as a "straight-shooter," said what Newfoundland and Labrador needs is a leader that will "tell [it] like it is."

"If everyone in the province wants the same-old, same-old, I can tell you 48 people to vote for. But I'm not like that," said Barry after his announcement to run last week.

Barry — who is the chief executive officer of the Barry Group of Companies — is already applying his financial know-how to politics.

"This is the business of Newfoundland Inc. And who are the shareholders? The taxpayers," said Barry.
