Bear spray used in downtown St. John's assault

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating an incident involving bear spray that happened early Saturday in downtown St. John's.

Police said the incident happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to a disturbance complaint in the downtown area of the city.

According to the RNC, bear spray had been used in the commission of an assault.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
