Bear spray assault investigation ends, alleged victim silent
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has concluded its investigation into an alleged assault with a weapon that happened in Torbay last week.
Last Thursday night, officers responded to the incident on Lynch's Lane.
An 18-year-old man told police that he met with two other men when trying to sell his car.
The victim said he had been attacked with bear spray, and the two men stole his vehicle.
The two male suspects, believed to be in their early 20s, allegedly sped off in the vehicle they were pretending to buy.
The RNC had been investigating with the possibility of laying charges of robbery with violence.
Now police say the victim will not speak with them, and is not providing any information to assist in the investigation.
Police do not believe this was a random act, saying they think the suspects and the victim are known to each other.
