Labrador police took a man into custody Tuesday after a bizarre incident in Happy Valley-Goose Bay that ended in drug-related charges.
RCMP said the suspect, 32, broke into a home in the Spruce Park area, and was carrying a baseball bat.
Then, he entered a convenience store around 10 a.m. and threatened staff by slamming the bat on a counter.
"The male then fled the store and jumped into a water/sewer truck and, after threatening the driver, proceeded to steal the truck," RCMP said in a statement.
The suspect, though, did not get far. He drove off the road and into a snowbank.
Police said they took the man into custody without incident.
He is expected to appear in provincial court on Wednesday for a bail hearing, on charges of assault, robbery, impaired driving and possession of cocaine.
