A man who was arrested in connection with two bank robberies in the St. John's area made his first court appearance on Saturday.
Scott Kenneth Cleary, 20, is charged in connection with an armed robbery on Friday at the Royal Bank of Canada in Torbay.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said he is also charged with the robbery of a Bank of Montreal branch on Elizabeth Avenue in St. John's on April 29.
Police also arrested Brenna Gilespie, 19, in relation to the Torbay incident.
The suspects appeared in provincial court Saturday, and will be held until Monday when they will make a second appearance.
In both cases, police said a man entered the banks with a knife and demanded cash.
