Two people were robbed at a bank in the St. John's area late Tuesday night as they tried to make a deposit, police said.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said two suspects were armed with what they call an "edged weapon" when they confronted customers at a bank on Topsail Road.

The pair ran from the scene with cash.

The incident happened around 11 p.m.

The RNC said the suspects were both described as being about six feet tall, dressed in dark clothes and wearing masks.

Investigators brought in a dog unit to help track the thieves, but no arrests have yet been made.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a convenience store on Forest Road in St. John's on Tuesday afternoon.

A masked man demanded cash from the attendant and ran away from the scene. The type of weapon was not disclosed.
