Bail denied in first-degree murder case
A Mount Pearl man charged with first-degree murder has been denied bail.
Trevor Pardy, 34, is facing the charge in connection with the death of his former girlfriend, Triffie Wadman.
Justice Richard LeBlanc made the decision on bail Wednesday afternoon. But there is a publication ban on his reasons.
Wadman was found shot on the road at Boggy Hall Place in west end St. John's in the early morning hours of Oct. 1.
Police had a four-hour armed standoff with Pardy before they were able subdue him. Wadman died in hospital.
Wadman's family and friends were in court Wednesday. They didn't want to speak on camera, but say they're glad Pardy didn't get bail.
Pardy left the court in tears Wednesday. His next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 6.
