Even though they happened within minutes of each other, two robberies on the Northeast Avalon on Thursday night are not believed to be connected.

The first robbery was reported at a convenience store in the Town Square area of Mount Pearl just after 10:30 p.m.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the robbery.

Six minutes later, police were called to another convenience store, this time on Topsail Road in the west end of St. John's. Cash was also stolen in the second robbery.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary called in dog units to help find evidence in each case.

No arrests have yet been made.
