A St. John's man evidently didn't learn his lesson about staying on the right side of the law.

Wilson Spurrell, 37, had already pleaded guilty to a couple of break and enters into homes.

But while Spurrell was waiting to be sentenced for those, he stole a boat valued at about $21,000 from Atlantic Recreation in Mount Pearl.

So, instead of receiving a more moderate sentence, on Wednesday Spurrell was given a sentence of 34 months.

Spurrell told provincial court that he's sorry for what he did.
