Avalanche in B.C. claims life of Cottlesville man
For the second time in a week, an avalanche in British Columbia has killed a Newfoundlander.
CBC News has learned that the 27-year-old man who died on Tuesday while snowmobiling in the Kootenay region was from Cottlesville, on New World Island.
The man was in the back country with his father-in-law when a wall of snow let go in Gray Creek Pass.
Both men were buried, but the elder managed to free himself and call for help.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
A pastor in Cottlesville has confirmed that the man's body is being flown to Newfoundland for the funeral.
On Saturday, A.J. Cleary, 34, of Come By Chance died in an avalanche near Vernon, B.C.
