RNC looking for suspect in west end assault
Police do not yet know if the suspect is a man or woman
Royal Newfoundland Constabulary on the Avalon are looking for a suspect accused of assault with a weapon after a 22-year-old man was taken to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's Friday night.
Police believe the assault occurred on Salter Place in the west end of the city around 12:30 a.m.
Officers received a call from the hospital about two-and-a-half hours later. As of Saturday afternoon, the man remained in hospital and no arrests have been made.
Police do not believe this was a random act and RNC are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The suspect is described as approximately six feet tall, with an average build. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black hoodie.
It is not known whether the assailant is male or female. Police did not comment on the extent of the man's injuries or what type of weapon was used.
