Police are investigating whether arson caused a fire that damaged a popular pedestrian bridge in Conception Bay South.
The foot bridge, known as the Indian Point Bridge, is popular with many people in the Seal Cove area, and has been rendered unsafe to cross.
In addition to pedestrians, the bridge is often used by all-terrain vehicles.
Crews responded to the fire on New Year's Day around 11 a.m.
The fire left a hole in the bridge, causing enough structural damage that officials have had to close it temporarily.
Repairs are expected to be completed as early as Friday.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the fire is suspicious. The force has been asking for the public's help to find the culprit.
