A woman suspected of shoplifting at a store in Mount Pearl is now wanted for something else: clipping a police officer as she sped away from the scene.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the force was called to a local business around 6:20 on Monday evening.

An RNC officer was trying to arrest the woman when she got in a car, and then struck him with it in the parking lot.

The officer was treated in hospital for minor injuries and has been released.

The RNC said an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect.
