A man held up a convenience store in Bonavista, on Newfoundland's east coast Tuesday night.

Police said the man walked into the Red Circle convenience store shortly before 10 o'clock and told the cashier he had a gun.

He had his face partially covered.

The RCMP said the man was wearing several layers of clothing, including a grey hoodie and what appeared to be a blue Ultramar jacket. He was also carrying a white shopping bag with the word Bentley written across it.

Police haven't said whether the man got away with any money or products.
