Anglican priest's charges may be heard in Mental Health Court
Offences alleged to have occurred between July and November 2012
The lawyer who is representing an Anglican priest and his wife is asking to have their fraud and theft charges heard in Mental Health Court.
Rev. John Dinn and his wife Catherine were charged a year ago with defrauding St. John the Evangelist Church in Topsail. The Dinns are also accused of forging cheques from the church.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between July and November of 2012.
In provincial court on Thursday, a defence lawyer made the request on behalf of the couple, who were not present.
A hearing is set for Jan. 29.
The Mental Health Court is designed to provide an increased level of support, both medical and community based, to accused persons appearing before it.
