Alleged drunk driver held overnight after St. John's hit and run
A woman was held in custody overnight to prevent her from getting behind the wheel again after police arrested her on drunk driving charges.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary alleges the woman, 30, was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck a parked car on Logy Bay Road shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.
Police said the driver fled from the scene, but was soon located.
She was charged with impaired driving and failing the breathalyzer.
"Due to concerns that the woman would drive again, she was held to prevent continuation of the offence and will appear in court [Tuesday] morning," the RNC said in a statement.
