An Anglican priest is facing five additional charges of theft after financial irregularities were uncovered at a church in Topsail.

Rev. John Dinn and his wife Catherine were charged in January with defrauding St. John The Evangelist Church in Conception Bay South. They're also accused of forging cheques from the church.

On Wednesday, John Dinn was charged with five additional counts of stealing from the church. The offences are alleged to have occurred between July and November of 2012.

Dinn has been suspended from his post since January when the irregularities were uncovered and the matter was handed over to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary for investigation.

The next court date is set for October.
