4 years for Labrador man guilty of fatal hit and run
A Labrador man will serve four years in jail for a fatal hit and run in December 2010 in Wabush.
Jeremy Reid pleaded guilty to charges of criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm when he appeared in provincial court Friday morning.
In January, Reid had pleaded not guilty on six criminal charges in relation to the hit and run.
The Crown withdrew the other four charges.
Reid has also pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching court orders.
Shane Mercer, 30, died after being hit by a Jeep. He was walking home from a party with his friend Lesia Penney, who was seriously injured.
Reid is also banned from driving for nine years. That prohibition will begin after his release.
He has already served 340 days, or nearly a quarter of the sentence.
Reid will be eligible for parole after one-third of his sentence is served.
