24-year-old dead after industrial explosion in Labrador
An industrial accident in Happy Valley-Goose Bay killed a 24-year-old man and injured two others at around 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The deceased and two other men were working on a fuel truck belonging to Woodward's Oil when an explosion took place.
The man was an employee of Stafford's Welding Ltd, based in Conception Bay South. RCMP said he was inside the compartment of the fuel truck, using welding equipment, when the explosion happened.
The two other men, 55 and 50, were sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One is an employee of Stafford's Welding, and the other an employee of Woodward's Oil.
Police and officials with occupational health and safety are continuing the investigation into the incident.
The name of the victim has not been released.
