2 women appointed to C-NLOPB
Two new federal members have been appointed to the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board, the regulator for the offshore oil industry.
Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver appointed Lidija Cicnjak-Chubbs and Cynthia Hickman on Tuesday.
Cicnjak-Chubbs is a former Happy Valley-Goose Bay councillor, and has 20 years of experience as an environmental scientist with a career in both the private and public sectors.
She is the environment and loss control manager for the Happy Valley-Goose Bay location of Serco Facilities Management Inc., where she oversees hazardous waste management, including hazardous material spill response.
Cicnjak-Chubbs also campaigned with Conservative Peter Penashue during the recent Labrador byelection.
Hickman is a certified management accountant and has worked in senior management positions for more than 10 years. She is currently an instructor with the College of the North Atlantic, where she teaches accounting and business-related courses.
The two new appointments fill out the seven seats on the C-NLOPB.The others are chair and CEO Scott Tessier, vice-chair Ed Williams, Edwin Drover, Conrad Sullivan and Reg Anstey.
