2.7-cent hike at gas pumps
Gas prices across Newfoundland and Labrador jumped almost three cents on Thursday, as many motorists prepared for long-weeked travel.
The Public Utilities Board approved an increase of as much as 2.7 cents per litre. The change may be slightly less in some areas, depending on rounding for taxes in different pricing zones.
Thursday's setting brings the maximum price, for instance, of a litre of self-serve unleaded gas on the Avalon Peninsula to $1.367.
Diesel prices increased by just one-tenth of a cent in Newfoundland, and dropped 0.2 cents a litre in Labrador.
Meanwhile, furnace and stove oil prices increased marginally, by just 0.04 cents a litre.
Propane dropped by 0.7 cents a litre.
