Several companies filed notice in court against hotel's owner and general contractor on project
Several companies have filed liens against the owners of the Algonquin Hotel in St. Andrews to recover money they maintain they are owed for the renovation of the grand hotel.
All of the claims name the hotel owners, Southwest Properties and Newcastle Developments.
The claims add up to $881,000.
The largest amount owing is $481,000 to Kent Building Supplies.
The Eddy Group, which as another supplier, says it is out more than $200,000 plus interest.
In a statement, Southwest Properties president Gordon Laing says payments to sub-contractors were made in December and January and another is expected in February.
The hotel has been closed for the past two summers due to the renovation. It is scheduled to reopen in May.
In May 2012, ownership of the Algonquin was transferred from the province to Southwest Properties and Newcastle Developments.
