Trial date set in alleged paint thinner, lighter attack

A Moncton man accused of dousing a woman in paint thinner and threatening to set her on fire will go to trial in May.
Shawn Ezerskis, 30, is charged with assault, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
Ezerskis, who pleaded not guilty in February, made a brief appearance in Moncton provincial court on Thursday, when a trial date was set for May 12.
Two days have been set aside.
Ezerskis remains remanded in custody. There is a publication ban on the evidence presented during his previous bail hearing and the judge's reasons for detaining him.
In January, a woman arrived at the RCMP station, complaining she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
She told police he had poured paint thinner on her, lit a lighter and threatened to set her and their apartment on fire, police have said.
